Chardonnay is recognised as one of the Hunter Valleys finest varieties, showing many different facets depending on vintage, vineyard and vinification methods. This wine has been made from fruit from our vineyard, with some of the wine fermented in Hungarian, French and American oak barrels and the remainder left to mature on lees in stainless steel tanks. These components have been blended together to produce a wine that is green-straw in colour, with aromas of stone fruit, banana and those combined vanillin oak and brioche-like yeast characters that barrel fermentation brings.
This Chardonnay has been made from fruit grown on our vineyard, and partially matured in a blend of Hungarian and American oak 300 litre hogshead barrels. The wine shows ripe tropical fruit aromas, underpinned with barrel ferment oak characters such as vanillin and coconut. The silky-smooth palate has flavours of melon and green mango and again those vanillin oak characters play a supporting role in adding a subtle complexity. The textured finish arises from lees stirring during maturation and the wine finishes with a clean acid and fruit finish.
Perfect for accompanying antipasto plates, creamy pasta and poultry dishes, this wine can also be enjoyed by itself as an aperitif.
The palate is reflective of the bouquet, with hints of fruit salad, vanillin and pastry flavours and a flinty and refreshing acid finish. Although this wine can be enjoyed by itself slightly chilled, it will complement poultry, pasta and seafood dishes. Enjoy our wine in moderation.
